Summer Storm on Three Fingers

After spending most of the Spring in the Southern U.S. and Winter in S.E. Asia, we almost forgot what a decent Washington storm looked like. On an August weekend trip up to climb Three Fingers, just above Granite Falls, we awoke to strong winds that were ultimately followed by some huge cloud formations racing off the Strait of Juan de Fuca and slamming into the Central Cascades. We chose leisure over climbing, and high mountain rain and snow hit soon after...

KW plays the fly in the wind as a cloud banner blows off of Three Fingers.

The foreboding skies of mid morning above goat flats; Puget Sound in the distance.
