Alpine Splendor

Finally, after a year's absence, I was able to get into summer's alpine zone of the Pacific Northwest. DWF, JT, and I climbed Mt. Elinore, near Hoodsport on the Olympic Peninsula. Then T and I bivied on top of Mt. Dickerman in the Central Cascades, outside of Granite Falls. The Alpine Zone had been covered with snow for about 8 months (much of it was still white). It was as if everyone and everything was soaking up the sun and the summer's high pressure systems.



The "chute" on Elinore was full of moats and trap doors, and should be avoided until more of it melts.
