Baker - Shuksan Bliss

Got out for a walk up to the Coleman Pinnicle on Mt. Baker; experiencing one super-fine seemingly endless bluebird summer day...

Vesper Peak Bivy

Vesper Peak is situated opposite of Mt. Dickerman (photos in previous post) just off of the Mountain Loop Highway, between Darrington and Granite Falls. Recently, I got a 36 hour block of fine weather and solid snow to check it out.

Now here was an interesting stream crossing...

KW on the approach. The avalanche debris from a long snowy winter abound.

KW in the icy chute to Headlee Pass.

MWF hangs out with about a vertical mile of exposure below the summit(not our climbing route!).

Here's a set with Mt. Pilchuck and Puget Sound in the distance.

Pick your favorite color... summertime haze in the high country.

Hey, that's where I slept last night!

Alpine Splendor

Finally, after a year's absence, I was able to get into summer's alpine zone of the Pacific Northwest. DWF, JT, and I climbed Mt. Elinore, near Hoodsport on the Olympic Peninsula. Then T and I bivied on top of Mt. Dickerman in the Central Cascades, outside of Granite Falls. The Alpine Zone had been covered with snow for about 8 months (much of it was still white). It was as if everyone and everything was soaking up the sun and the summer's high pressure systems.

The "chute" on Elinore was full of moats and trap doors, and should be avoided until more of it melts.

Jen with some friends on the summit.

Hey kid, descend this!

After a 4,000 plus foot slog, we endured a beautiful and pleasant night on Mt. Dickerman:

A day at the office...

And another sunset series:
